Sir Noah Thomas (born 1720 – died 17 May 1792) was an important Welsh doctor. He was the personal physician, or doctor, to King George III of Great Britain. He was also a respected member of the Royal Society and the Royal College of Physicians, which are two very old and important groups for scientists and doctors.
Early Life and Education
Noah Thomas was born in a town called Neath in Wales. His father, Hophni Thomas, was a captain of a merchant ship.
Young Noah went to school in Oakham, a town in England. After that, he studied at St John's College, Cambridge, which is a famous university. This education helped him become a very skilled doctor.
A Doctor to the King
Sir Noah Thomas became a very well-known doctor. In 1775, he was given the special title of "Knight" by the King. This meant he was called "Sir Noah Thomas."
