Nobuo Kawaguchi (川口 信男, born April 10, 1975) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward for most of his career.

Nobuo Kawaguchi's Football Journey

Nobuo Kawaguchi was born in Sanjo, Japan, on April 10, 1975. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he went to Juntendo University. There, he continued to play football and improve his skills.

Starting Professional Career with Júbilo Iwata

In 1998, after graduating from university, Nobuo Kawaguchi joined Júbilo Iwata. This was a big step, as Júbilo Iwata was a top club in the J1 League. He quickly became an important player for the team. In his first year, he played in many matches as a forward.

Winning Trophies and Awards

His first season with Júbilo Iwata was very successful. The club won the 1998 Emperor's Cup, a major football tournament in Japan. In the final match of the 1998 J.League Cup, Nobuo Kawaguchi scored two goals! Because of his amazing performance, he was chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

Júbilo Iwata also achieved a huge victory by winning the 1998–99 Asian Club Championship. This was their first time winning a championship in Asia. From 2000 onwards, Nobuo Kawaguchi started playing not only as a forward but also as a right-side midfielder. He helped the team win the 2002 J1 League and the 2003 Emperor's Cup.

Later Years with FC Tokyo and Retirement

After many successful years with Júbilo Iwata, Nobuo Kawaguchi's playing time started to decrease in 2004. In 2006, he moved to FC Tokyo. He played in many matches during 2006. However, his opportunities to play became less frequent from 2007. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2008 season. Throughout his career, he played a total of 184 league matches and scored 15 goals.
