Nokturnl was an Australian band formed in 1996. They started in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Their music is often called Rap metal. It mixes rap with heavy rock sounds. Their songs were inspired by their experiences as Indigenous Australians.
Nokturnl became very successful. They won "Band of the Year" at The Deadlys three times. They won in 1998, 2000, and 2003.

Early Career and Achievements
Nokturnl signed with Sputnik Records in December 1999. This was a record label that helped them release their music. Their first song, "Neva Mend", was very popular. It was nominated for two ARIA Awards. These awards are a big deal in Australian music.
The band toured in many places. They played concerts in Europe and Brazil. They also toured all over Australia with famous bands like Spiderbait. They supported other big groups such as Powderfinger and Regurgitator. Nokturnl also recorded music with Spiderbait and Primary.
They performed at important music events. These included the Survival Festival Concert in 1998 and Big Day Out in 2000. On July 3, 2000, they played a live show for TripleJ's Live at the Wireless. This was a special radio performance. Channel V, a music TV channel, even made a documentary about them. It showed live footage from a concert with Midnight Oil in Alice Springs.
Nokturnl's music was also used in movies. You can hear their songs in the films Radiance, Yolngu Boy, and Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.
