Nombre de Dios is a city in the state of Durango, Mexico. It is the main town of the Nombre de Dios area. In 2018, it was named a Pueblo Mágico. This means "Magic Town," a special title for towns that are beautiful and important for tourism.
Nombre de Dios is a very old town. It was founded on November 17, 1562. This makes it the oldest town in Northern Mexico. The town was started by a person named Francisco de Ibarra. As of 2015, about 5,302 people lived in Nombre de Dios.
Where is Nombre de Dios?
Nombre de Dios is located in the southeastern part of Durango state. It is southeast of Victoria de Durango, which is the state capital. The exact location is at 23°51' North and 104°51' East.
The city shares borders with other areas. To the north, it borders the municipalities of Durango and Poanas. To the south, it borders El Mezquital and Súchil. On the east side, it borders Vicente Guerrero and Poanas. To the west, it borders Durango and El Mezquital.
