Norman Noel Quijano González, born on November 2, 1946, is a politician from El Salvador. He is known for serving as the Mayor of San Salvador, the capital city. He also held the important role of President of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador.

Early Life and Education
Norman Quijano was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador. He finished high school at the National Institute General Francisco Menéndez. Later, he studied at the University of El Salvador. In 1977, he became a doctor of dental surgery.
Political Career Highlights
Quijano started his political journey in 1989. He worked for the Municipality of San Salvador until 1994. From 1994 onwards, he served in the Legislative Assembly for five terms. He was also the secretary of the Legislative Assembly's Board from 2006 to 2009.
Becoming Mayor of San Salvador
In 2008, he was chosen to run for mayor of San Salvador. He represented the Nationalist Republican Alliance party. He won the election on January 18, 2009. He officially became mayor on May 1, 2009.
As mayor, Norman Quijano worked to improve the city. On October 28, 2012, he ordered a big clean-up. This effort helped clear street vendors from the historic center of San Salvador.
City Finances Under Quijano
During his time as mayor, the city's finances improved. The debt from earlier leaders was reduced. For the first time, the San Salvador mayor's office had extra money. By the end of 2011, they had a surplus of almost $4 million.
President of the Legislative Assembly
After his time as mayor, Norman Quijano continued his political work. He served as the President of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador. He held this position from May 2018 to November 2019.
2014 Presidential Election
On August 20, 2012, Norman Quijano was chosen as his party's candidate for president. He ran in the 2014 Salvadoran presidential election. To focus on his campaign, he resigned as mayor on August 15, 2013.
In the first round of voting on February 2, 2014, he came in second place. He received 39.0% of the votes. In the final round on March 9, he narrowly lost the election. He received 49.9% of the votes.
