North Liberty was first planned out in 1838. This means people decided where streets and buildings would go, like drawing a map for a new neighborhood. It was the start of the community.

Later, in 1848, a post office opened in North Liberty. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This was an important service for the people living there. The post office helped connect North Liberty with other places. It stayed open for many years, until 1901.
