North Shore, Houston facts for kids
North Shore is a community located on the east side of Harris County, Texas. A small part of it is also inside the city of Houston, Texas. This area is made up of many different neighborhoods. Some of these include Songwood, Holiday Forest, and Woodforest. You can also find newer areas close to Highway 90 and Beltway 8 North Sam Houston Parkway.
North Shore became part of Houston in the 1950s. This means the city of Houston officially took over the area. One of the most well-known neighborhoods here is Woodforest. It was developed by Taylor Home, a company that started building homes in North Shore in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They mostly built single-family ranch-style houses.
Getting around North Shore is easy because it's part of Houston's public transportation system. Bus line #137 serves the area, connecting residents to other parts of Houston.
