Northcrest, Texas facts for kids
Northcrest was a small city in central Texas, USA. It was located in McLennan County. The city got its name because it was six miles north of Waco. It was also on the highest land in the Waco area.
Northcrest: A Former Texas City
Northcrest officially became a city in February 1958. It had a mayor and a city council to run things. In 1960, about 625 people lived there. By 1970, the population grew to 1,669. Northcrest became a place where many people lived in homes. Its economy relied a lot on bigger cities nearby.
Population Changes and Merger
In the late 1980s, about 2,200 people called Northcrest home. By 1990, this number went down to 1,725 residents. Northcrest joined with its neighbor, Lacy Lakeview, in 1998. After this merger, Northcrest was no longer a separate city.
