Nosimo Zisiwe Beauty Balindlela was born on November 28, 1949, in Hermanus, South Africa. She is a well-known South African politician. She served as the Premier of the Eastern Cape province, which is like being the leader or governor of that region.

She has been a member of different political parties throughout her career. This shows her dedication to public service and her desire to help her country.

Her Political Journey

Nosimo Balindlela started her political journey with the African National Congress (ANC). She became the Premier of the Eastern Cape on April 26, 2004. She held this important position until August 1, 2008.

Changes in Political Parties

In July 2008, Nosimo Balindlela resigned from her role as premier. This happened after discussions with the National Executive Committee of the ANC. Her successor, Mbulelo Sogoni, took over as premier on August 1, 2008.

After leaving the ANC, she joined a new political party called the Congress of the People (COPE) on November 4, 2008. She was a member of COPE until November 2012.

In November 2012, she decided to join another party, the Democratic Alliance (DA). This was her second time changing political parties.

Roles in Parliament

In May 2014, Nosimo Balindlela became a Member of Parliament for the DA. She served as the Shadow Minister of Water and Sanitation. A "shadow minister" is a member of the opposition party who watches over a specific government department. They suggest different ideas and hold the government accountable.

She held this role until November 2016. After that, she moved to the Eastern Cape Legislature. This means she continued to serve the people of the Eastern Cape province. In 2018, she returned to the ANC.
