Nozomu Kanaguchi was born in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on September 8, 1981. After finishing high school, he decided to pursue his dream of playing professional football. In the year 2000, he joined a team called Mito HollyHock. This was an exciting time for the team, as they had just moved up to the J2 League, which is a professional football league in Japan.

Nozomu played as a midfielder for Mito HollyHock. He was part of the team for three seasons, from 2000 to 2002. During this time, he played in many games, showing his skills on the field. Even though he didn't start every match, he was an important part of the team. At the end of the 2002 season, Nozomu decided to retire from playing professional football.
