From 1770 to 1780, an artist named Manuel Bayeu decorated the inside walls. He painted a huge number of pictures, about 250 in total!
These paintings are called frescoes, and they use bright, vivid colors. They show stories from the Gospels (parts of the Bible), scenes from the lives of saints and apostles, and other religious topics.
