Nungali facts for kids
The Nungali people, also known as the Ilngali or Jilngali, are an Indigenous Australian group from the Northern Territory in Australia. They have a rich history and culture, like many other First Nations peoples across the continent.
Their Language
The Nungali people traditionally speak the Nungali language. This language is connected to the Jaminjung language. Both Nungali and Jaminjung are part of a group of languages called the Yirram family. Unlike most Australian Indigenous languages, Nungali is not part of the larger Pama-Nyungan language family. Sadly, very few people speak Nungali today, and it is thought to be almost gone.
