Early Life and Artistic Training

Nunik Sauret was born in Mexico City. She went to a special art school there called the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda". This school helped her learn many art skills.

Learning Printmaking

Nunik learned a lot about Japanese printmaking. She had great teachers like Kobayashi Keisei, Tatsuma Watanabe, and Kuniko Satake. These teachers taught her special ways to make prints. In 1976, she joined an art workshop. It was called the Taller de Grabado del Molino de Santo Domingo. This workshop was in a very old flour mill.

Nunik Sauret's Art Style

While Nunik has made drawings and paintings, she is most famous for her prints. She uses many different printmaking methods.

Printmaking Techniques

Some of the techniques Nunik uses include:

  • Etching: This is where lines are drawn onto a metal plate, then acid is used to bite into the lines.

She has shown her work with a group called Polvo de Gallina Negra. In the early 1970s, Nunik helped start another group. It was called Colectivo Bio-Arte. This group worked with other feminist artists. Their goal was to show how women's bodies change and grow through their art.
