Nursholeh (born August 22, 1957 – died August 23, 2020) was an important Indonesian politician. He served as the Mayor of Tegal, a city in Central Java, from 2017 to 2019. He dedicated much of his life to public service and helping his community.
Early Life and Education
Nursholeh was born in Tegal, Indonesia, on August 22, 1957. He grew up there and finished high school in 1977. He continued his studies in Tegal, earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1996.
Nursholeh's Journey in Public Service
After high school, Nursholeh worked as a planning consultant in Jakarta for five years. He also spent a year working as a road surveyor in Bali.
By 1987, he became a member of a political party called Golkar. Later, in 2009, he became the chairman of the Golkar party in his hometown of Tegal. In the same year, he was also elected to the city council, helping to make decisions for Tegal.
In 2013, Nursholeh ran for mayor of Tegal. He was the running mate for Siti Masitha Soeparno. They won the election with 45.02% of the votes. They officially started their roles in March 2014.
Later, the previous mayor could no longer serve. This meant Nursholeh stepped up to lead the city. He became the acting mayor on August 31, 2017. Then, on September 24, 2018, he became the full mayor of Tegal.
Nursholeh ran for mayor again in the 2018 local election. However, he did not win this time. He passed away in Tegal on August 23, 2020.
