Nydia Quintero Turbay de Balcázar (born August 28, 1932 – died June 30, 2025) was an important leader and helper in Colombia. She was known for her kindness and for giving money to good causes. From 1978 to 1982, she served as the First Lady of Colombia. This was during the time her husband, Julio César Turbay Ayala, was president.
Nydia Quintero was born in Neiva, Huila. She started a special group called the Solidarity for Colombia Foundation in 1975. This foundation helps many people in need across Colombia. She was one of the most influential First Ladies in Colombia's history.

About Nydia Quintero's Life
Nydia Quintero was born on August 28, 1932, in Neiva, Huila, Colombia. Her parents were Jorge Quintero Céspedes and Adhalía Turbay Ayala. Her family had roots from Lebanon and Basque Country.
Early Life and Education
Nydia went to school at La Presentación in Neiva. She lived there until her father passed away. After that, she moved to Bogotá. In Bogotá, she continued her studies at the Liceo Nacional Femenino Antonia Santos.
Family and Marriages
On May 18, 1948, Nydia married Julio César Turbay Ayala. They had four children together. Their children were Julio César, Diana Consuelo, Claudia, and María Victoria.
After her husband's time as president ended, Nydia and Julio César separated in 1983. She later married Gustavo Balcázar Monzón in 1984. Nydia Quintero Turbay passed away on June 30, 2025. She was 92 years old.
