The OHSU Center for Health & Healing is a very large medical building. It is part of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). This building is about 412,000 square feet in size. It is located in the South Waterfront area of Portland, Oregon. The building is connected to the main OHSU campus. You can travel between them using the Portland Aerial Tram.

Building History

The OHSU Center for Health & Healing was finished in 2006. It was designed by a company called GBD Architects. The construction was done by Hoffman Construction. Building the center took three years. Work started in 2003 and finished in 2006. The total cost to build this facility was $140 million.

In February 2007, the building received a special award. It was given LEED Platinum status. This means the building is very environmentally friendly. At that time, it was the largest health care building in the United States to get this top rating.

What's Inside?

This large building has 16 floors. Eight of these floors are used by doctors for patient care. These floors have spaces for surgery and medical imaging. Three floors are home to the March Wellness Fitness Center. This is a place where people can exercise and stay healthy.

Four other floors are used for education and research. Scientists and students work here to learn new things. The ground floor has a few useful shops. You can find an optical shop, a pharmacy, and a café there. The entire building stands about 61.58 meters (202 feet) tall.
