Spoon Lake first filled up with water in 1973. It gets its water from Sugar Creek and natural springs. More than 40 miles (64 kilometers) of paved roads were built to county standards, making it easy to get around. The public Oak Run Golf Course opened in the middle of summer in 1976, adding another great feature to the community.
