Oakville Place Shopping Centre is a popular indoor shopping mall in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It first opened its doors in 1981. This mall is the only large indoor shopping center in the town of Oakville. It covers about 42,000 square meters (452,000 square feet). A company called RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust manages the mall.
About Oakville Place
The mall is located where the Queen Elizabeth Way highway meets Trafalgar Road. You can easily get there by bus! Oakville Transit bus route 13 stops on Leighland Avenue. This street is on the north side of the mall. This bus route connects to the Oakville GO Station, which is a train and bus station.
The Famous Clock
For many years, a very special clock was a main feature of Oakville Place. This clock was 12 feet tall and weighed 6,000 pounds! It was designed by Soheil Mosun Limited from Toronto. The clock was put in place when the mall opened in 1981. It would chime every 15 minutes. However, the clock was removed in 2016 after the mall got a new owner. The American Automobile Association once called Oakville Place "Oakville's leading shopping mall."
What You Can Find Inside
Oakville Place has many different stores for you to explore. In 2019, some new stores joined the mall. These included LL Bean, PetSmart, and GoodLife Fitness. These new stores opened in the space where a large department store called Sears used to be.
