Odón Alonso facts for kids
Odón Alonso Ordás (born February 28, 1925 – died February 21, 2011) was a famous Spanish conductor and composer. He was especially well-known for creating music for movies.
Alonso was born in a town called La Bañeza in León, Spain. He studied music in several important cities like Madrid, Siena, Salzburg, and Vienna. His first jobs as a conductor were between 1952 and 1956. During this time, he worked with the orchestra and chorus of the Spanish National Radio station.
A Life in Music
In 1960, Odón Alonso became the main conductor for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Madrid. Later, from 1968 to 1984, he was the music director for the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Spanish Broadcasting. This orchestra is known as Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española.
After that, from 1986 to 1994, he conducted the Symphonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico. Odón Alonso Ordás passed away in Madrid.
