Ohangai is a small place located in South Taranaki, New Zealand. It's about 10 kilometers east of Hāwera and 6 kilometers north of Mokoia. The name Ōhāngai means "opposite place" in Māori. This meaning comes from the New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage.

Ohangai covers an area of about 331.78 square kilometers. In 2018, the population was 537 people. This was a small decrease from 570 people in 2013. There were 207 households in the area.

Meremere Marae
The local Meremere Marae is in Ohangai. It has a meeting house called Tataurangi. This Marae is connected to the Ngāti Ruanui hapū (sub-tribes) of Ngā Ariki, Ngāti Hine, and Tūwhakaehu.
In October 2020, the New Zealand Government helped fund renovations for Meremere Marae. They gave $1,479,479 to improve Meremere Marae and other nearby Marae. This project also created 35 jobs for people in the area.
Ohangai School
Ohangai School used to be a primary school for children from years 1 to 6. It was a coeducational school, meaning both boys and girls attended. The school celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006. However, Ohangai School closed down in 2012.
