About Okay Kaya
Kaya Wilkins grew up in Nesoddtangen, Norway. This town is just a short distance from Oslo. She was raised by her mother and has five brothers. Her background includes both Scandinavian and African-American heritage.
Kaya started her music career in 2015. Her first full album, Both, came out in 2018. She worked on this album with Aaron Maine from the band Porches. In 2020, she released her second album, Watch This Liquid Pour Itself. This album was released through the record label Jagjaguwar.
Okay Kaya's music has even been featured on TV. Her cover of Cher's song "Believe" was used in the HBO show Industry. Besides singing, Kaya has also acted. Her first acting role was in the Norwegian movie Thelma in 2017. In August 2020, she released a collection of songs called a mixtape, titled Surviving is the New Living.
