What You Can See at the Museum
The Okayama Prefectural Museum has many amazing things to explore. It collects and shows off items that are important to the history and culture of Okayama Prefecture.
A Very Special Samurai Armor
One of the most incredible items you can see is a suit of samurai armor. This armor is called a yoroi and it dates back to the 12th century. It's considered a National Treasure of Japan.
What makes this armor so unique is its red lacing. While old documents talk about armor with red laces, this particular suit is the only one known to still exist today. It gives us a rare peek into how samurai dressed and fought centuries ago.
Ancient Swords on Display
The museum also proudly displays two very important tachi swords. These are long, curved Japanese swords. One of them is recognized as a National Important Cultural Property. This means it's highly valued across all of Japan. The other sword is an Important Cultural Property specifically for Okayama Prefecture. Both swords show the incredible skill of ancient Japanese sword makers.
