A Bit of History

Old Hundred got its unique name because of a railroad! It was first thought to be the 100-mile mark along the Wilmington, Charlotte and Rutherford Railroad. This railroad line traveled west from Wilmington.

However, the calculation was a bit off. Even after they found the correct spot, the name "Old Hundred" stuck. Fun fact: The longest straight stretch of railroad track in the United States is connected to Old Hundred. It goes all the way to Wilmington and is about 78.86 miles long!
