Old Texas is a small, quiet place in Monroe County, Alabama, in the United States. It's not a city with its own government, but rather a community where people live. You can find Old Texas along Alabama State Route 47, about 12.3 miles (or 19.8 kilometers) east-northeast of a town called Beatrice.

History of Old Texas

Old Texas has an interesting story behind its name. A long time ago, in 1857, a post office was opened here. This helped people send and receive letters.

However, the post office only stayed open for a few years. It closed down in 1866.

The community got its name from early settlers, often called pioneers. These pioneers were traveling from eastern states. They were on their way to the state of Texas, which was a popular destination back then. But when they reached this spot, they liked it so much that they decided to stop their journey and make it their new home instead. That's why it's called "Old Texas"!
