Ole Selnæs's Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
Ole Selnæs was born in Trondheim, Norway. For a while, he lived in Lillestrøm because his dad, Ivar Selnæs, was a coach for Skjetten SK. Ole played in the youth teams there. Later, his family moved back to Trondheim, and Ole joined Sverresborg IF.
Playing for Rosenborg
Ole joined Rosenborg in 2009. People noticed his accurate left foot and his good understanding of the game. These skills helped him become a strong defensive midfielder.
In 2011, he was a key player for Rosenborg's under-19 team. They won the national championship that year. He also helped them get third place in their NextGen Series group. Even though he wasn't well-known outside the club, he was becoming important to the first team. His great performance in the 2012 pre-season earned him a professional contract on March 25.
He started the season as a back-up player. But soon, he became a regular starter in midfield. His first professional game was on April 1, 2012, against Lillestrøm. He came on as a substitute. The next week, he started his first game at home against Sogndal.
After only four league matches, a website called scan-scout.com named him the biggest talent in Scandinavia. Rosenborg's coach, Jan Jönsson, was not surprised. He said Ole had developed very quickly.
Ole played regularly for Rosenborg in the first half of the 2012 season. However, an injury made him lose his starting spot. After he recovered, Rosenborg had bought new players. This limited Ole's chances to play. But he said in an interview that he was still young and would work hard for more opportunities. He returned to Rosenborg in 2023 and continues to play for them.
Moving to Other Clubs
Ole Selnæs joined AS Saint-Étienne in France on January 31, 2016. He played there for a few years.
