Olena is a small, quiet place located in Huron County, Ohio, United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own separate local government, like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of the larger county's administration. Olena is a peaceful spot where people live and connect with their neighbors.

Discovering Olena's Past

The story of Olena began a long time ago. People first started settling in this area around the year 1832. These early settlers helped build the foundations of the community.

The Post Office Story

A very important part of any community is its post office, which helps people send and receive letters and packages. A post office was opened in Olena in 1832. When it first started, it was called "North Fitchville."

However, the name didn't stay that way for long. In 1849, the name of the post office was officially changed to "Olena." Some people believe that the name "Olena" might have been inspired by a town called Olean, New York. The post office served the community for many years, helping people stay connected, before it finally closed its doors in 1932.
