Olivia Price is an Australian sailor. She was born on August 2, 1992. Olivia is well-known for winning a silver medal for Australia in sailing at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Olivia Price was born in Sydney, Australia, on August 2, 1992. She grew up in a place called Drummoyne. She went to Drummoyne Public School. Later, she attended St Catherines School.

For her high school years, Olivia chose Sydney Distance Education High School. This allowed her to study from home. She picked this option so she could have more time to train and compete in sailing. She finished her high school studies in 2011. As of 2012, Olivia lived in Sydney. She was also part of The University of Sydney's special program for elite athletes. Olivia is 164 centimeters tall and weighs 68 kilograms.

Olivia's Sailing Career

Olivia Price is a talented sailor. She has played different roles on a boat, including a "bowman" (a crew member at the front of the boat) and a "skipper" (the person in charge of the boat). Since 2010, her coach has been Euan McNicol. Olivia mainly trains in Sydney. She also trains in Weymouth, England. She is a member of the Middle Harbour Yacht Club. Road to the Olympics

In 2011, Olivia, Nina Curtis, and Lucinda Whitty formed their team. They sailed in the Elliott 6m boat class. Olivia was the skipper from the beginning. They competed in many important events:

  • At the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships, her team finished eighth.
  • They finished third in match racing at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final.
  • At the 2011 Weymouth & Portland International Regatta, her team finished fifth.
  • They placed seventh at the 2011 European Championships in Finland.

In 2012, Olivia's team continued to do well:

  • They finished first at the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Weymouth.
  • They came in second at the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami.
  • They finished third at the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Spain.

Before the Olympics, her team competed in the 2012 ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship. They were ranked sixth in the world before this event. Her team finished third in their group.

Olympic Success

Olivia Price was chosen to represent Australia in sailing. She was named to the Elliott 6m team in June 2012. Olivia was the youngest sailor on Australia's Olympic team. Before the London Games, she trained at a special camp in Italy. She knew that if she won a medal, she would be the youngest female ever to win one in her event. Olivia and her team proudly won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

After the 2012 Olympics

After the 2012 Olympics, Olivia was not chosen for the 49erFX class at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She then took a break from sailing for five years.

In September 2021, Olivia teamed up with Evie Haseldine. They started sailing together in the 49erFX class. In July 2023, they finished 10th at the Olympic Test Event in Marseille. Their coach is Victor Paya. Later in 2023, Olivia and Evie won a bronze medal at the Sailing World Championships. This win secured a spot for Australia in the sailing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
