Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company is a chocolate company. It is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States. This company gets its cocoa beans from the forests of Ghana. The Story of Omanhene Chocolate
The Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company started in 1991. It was founded by two brothers, Steven C. Wallace and Jonathan Wallace. Steven had lived in Ghana for three months in 1978. He was a high school student with the AFS program.
When Steven was 29 years old, he went back to Ghana. He decided to start a chocolate business there. The name Omanhene comes from the Twi language in Ghana. It means "Paramount Chief," which is a very important leader.
How Omanhene Works
The people who work in the factory and the farmers who grow the cocoa beans are very important to Omanhene. They are part of the company's success. This means they have a special interest in how well the company does.
The company also joined the UN Global Compact early on. This is a special agreement where companies promise to follow good rules for human rights, labor, the environment, and fighting corruption.
In October 2022, another company called Niche Cocoa Company Limited announced a plan. They worked with Omanhene Cocoa to open a new cocoa processing plant. This plant is located in Franklin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
