One San Jacinto Plaza is a tall, 20-story office building in Downtown El Paso, Texas. It stands at 201 East Main Drive. This building is a very important part of the El Paso skyline. You can see it easily when driving east on I-10.
It is the second tallest skyscraper in El Paso. Only the Wells Fargo Plaza is taller. Many different businesses have offices here. These include restaurants, healthcare groups, and law offices. You can also find accounting firms, insurance companies, and financial businesses. The building was made in a style called "international style." This design was very popular when it was built.
History of the Building's Name
When the building first opened in 1962, it had a different name. It was called the El Paso National Bank Tower. Later, in the 1980s and early 1990s, it was known as the Texas Commerce Bank Tower.
By the mid-1990s, Chase Bank bought all the Texas Commerce Bank locations. Because of this, the tower's name changed again to Chase Tower.
In 2017, Chase Bank announced they would be moving out. This meant they would no longer have the naming rights for the tower. The company that owns the building, Borderplex Realty Trust, looked for a new tenant. They hoped a new company would move in and put its name on the building.
In September 2018, Borderplex Realty shared the tower's new name. It would now be called One San Jacinto Plaza. A new LED lighting system was added in late 2018. This system can light up the building's outside in many different colors at night. It looks very cool!
