The Oregon Film Museum is a cool place that celebrates movies made in the U.S. state of Oregon. It's located in Astoria, Oregon, inside an old building that used to be the Clatsop County Jail. This historic building is even listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You might recognize it because it was used in the exciting opening scene of the 1985 movie The Goonies. The museum first opened its doors in 2010, which was exactly 25 years after The Goonies came out!

Exploring the Museum's Movie Magic

The Oregon Film Museum is full of fun, hands-on exhibits. These exhibits are all about movies that were filmed in Oregon. Besides The Goonies, you'll find things related to other famous films. These include Kindergarten Cop, Free Willy, Twilight, The Shining, Sometimes a Great Notion, and National Lampoon's Animal House.

What You'll See Inside

Inside the museum, you can check out many cool items. There are props from The Goonies, along with other movie souvenirs. You'll also see costumes and various collectibles. These are displayed inside the old jail cells, which is a unique way to see them!

Make Your Own Movie

One of the most exciting parts of the museum is an exhibit where you can become a filmmaker yourself. You can create your own short movies! This exhibit has small sets and green screens. Green screens let you add different backgrounds to your video, just like in real movies.

The Goonies' ORV Outside

If you visit the museum, look outside in the parking lot. You might spot a special vehicle there. It's an "ORV" that looks just like the one used by the Fratelli gang in The Goonies. It even has fake bullet holes near the back license plate, making it look very realistic!
