Organyà is a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the Alt Urgell area of Catalonia, Spain. This region is called a comarca. Organyà sits on the right side of the Segre River, just below the Trespons gorge. The C-14 road, which connects Ponts and La Seu d'Urgell, passes through the town.
One of the most important things about Organyà is its connection to the Homilies d'Organyà. This is a very old collection of sermons, written around the 12th or 13th century. It is the oldest complete literary text written in the Catalan language. These important writings were found in Organyà in 1904.
Organyà was also the birthplace of Rosa Florentina Eroles (1815-1864). She was the mother of a famous economist named Francis Ysidro Edgeworth.
The municipality of Organyà completely surrounds a small piece of land that belongs to another town, Cabó. This kind of separated area is called an exclave.
