The Province of Lleida (pronounced "Lay-ee-da") is one of the four provinces that make up Catalonia, a special region in north-eastern Spain. People sometimes call it Ponent, which means "the West," because it's on the western side of Catalonia.

Where is Lleida Located?
The Province of Lleida is in the western part of Catalonia. It shares its borders with several other provinces in Spain. These include Girona, Barcelona, Tarragona, Zaragoza, and Huesca.
Lleida also borders two other countries: France to the north and Andorra, a small country in the Pyrenees mountains. This location gives Lleida a mix of landscapes, from mountains to plains.
