Orient is in the southern part of Franklin County. Its exact location is 37°55′8″N 88°58′34″W / 37.91889°N 88.97611°W. This means it's at 37.918839 degrees north latitude and 88.975973 degrees west longitude.
The city is about 4 miles (6 km) (6.4 kilometers) northwest of West Frankfort.
