Oswulf was a king of Northumbria, an old kingdom in what is now England. He ruled for a very short time, from 758 to 759.
Becoming King of Northumbria
Oswulf became king after his father, Eadberht, decided to stop being king. Eadberht chose to join a monastery in York instead. Oswulf's uncle, Ecgbert, was an important religious leader, the Archbishop of York.
Oswulf's Short Time as King
Even though his father had ruled for a long time and his uncle was powerful, Oswulf's time as king was very short. He was killed by people from his own household, like his servants or bodyguards. This happened in a place called Market Weighton on July 24, 759.
After Oswulf's Death
After Oswulf died, Æthelwald Moll took over as king. Oswulf's brother, Oswine, was later killed in a battle against Æthelwald Moll. This battle happened in August 761 near a place called "Eldunum near Mailros".
