Otter Village is a small, quiet place located in Ripley County, in the state of Indiana, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a settlement that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Center Township.
History
Otter Village was first planned and settled way back in 1837. The people who lived there named the community after a nearby stream called Otter Creek.
A post office opened in Otter Village in 1838. This was important for people to send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office closed down about 20 years later, in 1858.
