Discovering Otto's History
Otto's Pub & Brewery started in October 2002. It was opened by Charlie Schnable and Derek Duffee. They were roommates when they studied at Penn State University. Charlie was in charge of making the beer. Derek managed all the restaurant parts.
Moving to a Bigger Location
In 2005, Roger Garthwaite joined the business as a partner. In November 2010, Otto's Pub & Brewery moved to a new address. It moved just down the street to 2235 N. Atherton Street. This new place used to be a different restaurant.
The new location was much better. It offered more parking for cars. There was also more space inside for people to sit. The brewery itself became much larger. The new spot also had a full bar area.
Unique Drinks and Flavors
Many of Otto's beers have names inspired by local places. These places are in Central Pennsylvania. Some names also come from fly-fishing terms. For example, you might find Spruce Creek Lager or Mt. Nittany Pale Ale.
Besides their special beers, Otto's also makes tasty non-alcoholic drinks. They have offered Root Beer for a long time. They have also added Orange Soda, Grape Soda, and Ginger Beer.
