Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Roman Catholic church located on High Park Street in Dingle, Liverpool. This church was built because the local community had grown too big for the nearby Church of St Patrick. Before the main church opened, people used a small chapel in the school starting in 1866. The church itself officially opened its doors on July 21, 1878.

History of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
A Growing Community
The area around High Park Street in Liverpool was growing fast. Many families needed a place to worship. The older church, St Patrick's, became too small for everyone. So, the community decided to build a new, larger church.
At first, a special chapel was set up in a school building in 1866. This chapel was also named after Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It served the community while the new church was being planned and built.
Building the Church
The main church building was finished in 1878. It was a big day when it opened on July 21. This new church provided a much-needed space for the growing number of people in the parish.
An Important Building
In December 2009, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church received a special award. It, along with the house next door where the priest lives (called the presbytery), was given "Grade II listed status." This means the buildings are very important because of their history or architecture. They are protected so they can be kept for future generations.
Changes Over Time
In 2001, the church community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel joined with another nearby church, St Finbar's. St Finbar's Church had already closed down. It was later taken down in 2003. This meant that the people from St Finbar's parish became part of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel community.
