Our Lady of Ransom and the Holy Souls Church is a Roman Catholic church in Llandrindod Wells, Wales. It was started by a group called the Society of Jesus (also known as the Jesuits) in 1907. The church was rebuilt in 1972. This church was special because it was the only one the Jesuits built in central Wales.
A Look Back in Time
The Jesuits are a group of Catholic priests. They came to Llandrindod Wells from St Beuno's College in 1907. They set up a place for people to attend Mass. Mass is a special church service.
At first, these services were held in an old building called the presbytery. A presbytery is where the priest lives. This old presbytery was sometimes called "the upper room."
Later, the Jesuits gave the church to the Diocese of Menevia. A diocese is an area managed by a bishop. In 1972, a new church building was constructed on Victoria Road. This is the church building that is still used today.
What Happens at the Church
This church is an important part of the Llandrindod Wells Deanery. A deanery is a group of churches in a local area. The church holds a Sunday Mass service at 11:00 AM.
