Our Lady of Ransom and the Holy Souls Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Llandrindod Wells, Wales. It was first started by a group called the Society of Jesus (also known as Jesuits) in 1907. The church building you see today was rebuilt in 1972. This original church was special because it was the only one the Jesuits built in central Wales.
History of the Church
The Jesuits came to Llandrindod Wells from St Beuno's College in 1907. They set up a place for church services. At first, these services were held in the old presbytery. A presbytery is the house where a priest lives.
Later, the Jesuits handed over the church to the Diocese of Menevia. A diocese is a church area managed by a bishop. The Diocese of Menevia still looks after the church today.
In 1972, a brand new church building was constructed. This new church is on Victoria Road. It has been used for services ever since.
The Church Today
Our Lady of Ransom and the Holy Souls Church is an important local church. It serves as the main church for the Llandrindod Wells Deanery. A deanery is a group of churches in a specific area.
The church holds a Sunday Mass service. This service takes place every Sunday at 11:00 AM.
