Oxkutzcab is a small city in Yucatán, Mexico. It's the main town of the Oxkutzcab Municipality. In 2015, about 33,854 people lived there. Oxkutzcab is known for growing many delicious tropical fruits. These include oranges, avocados, mangoes, papayas, and plums.

History of Oxkutzcab
Oxkutzcab has a long history, going back to ancient times. Before Europeans arrived, it was an important town. After the city of Mayapán fell in the 1440s, Oxkutzcab became a main city. It was ruled by the Xiu family.
Spanish Colonial Era
In 1550, after the Spanish conquest of Yucatán, the Spanish rebuilt Oxkutzcab. They tore down old Maya temples. In their place, a large Franciscan church was built. This church is still an important part of the city today.
Modern City Development
Oxkutzcab officially became a city in the early 1800s. In 1847, during the Caste War of Yucatán, the city faced difficulties. Later, in 1879, a railroad connected Oxkutzcab to Mérida. Mérida is the capital city of Yucatán. This railroad helped Oxkutzcab grow and connect with other places.
