Pablo Heras-Casado (born in 1977) is a famous Spanish conductor. He leads orchestras and choirs, helping musicians play together perfectly. He is known for conducting many different types of music, from very old to very new.

How Pablo Started His Music Journey

Pablo Heras-Casado loved music from a young age. He started singing in a school choir when he was seven. At nine, he began taking piano lessons. He studied music at a special school called a conservatory in Granada, Spain.

Later, he went to the Universidad de Granada. There, he learned about art history and acting. He also studied how to be a conductor at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. Some of his important teachers were Harry Christophers and Christopher Hogwood.

Pablo's Amazing Career as a Conductor

In the mid-1990s, Pablo helped start a music group called Capella Exaudi. They played very old music. At the Universidad de Granada, he also helped create SONÓORA. This group focused on modern and experimental music.

In 2002, he started the Barroca de Granada Orchestra. He also taught a special class for people who wanted to learn how to conduct choirs.

Leading Orchestras Around the World

Pablo Heras-Casado has conducted many famous orchestras. In 2008, he performed in the United States for the first time. This was at Carnegie Hall in New York. Soon after, he made his debut in the United Kingdom.

He became the main conductor for the Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York in 2011. He worked with them for many years. In 2013, he conducted at the famous Metropolitan Opera in New York. He led the opera Rigoletto.

In Spain, he became the main guest conductor at the Teatro Real in Madrid in 2014. He also conducted many other top orchestras. These include the Vienna Philharmonic and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pablo has also worked on new music. He conducted the very first performances of a ballet called Les enfants du paradis in Paris. He also led the first performance of an opera named Matsukaze.

In 2017, Pablo became the director of the Granada Festival. This is a big music festival in his hometown. His first festival in 2018 was a huge success. More than 45,000 people came to enjoy the music!

In 2019, Pablo Heras-Casado reached a big milestone. He conducted his 1,000th concert! This special event happened with the Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker.

Pablo Heras-Casado has won many awards for his talent.

  • 2007 – He won the Lucerne Festival Conductors' Competition in Switzerland.
