The Life of Paddy Fahey
Paddy Fahey came from a place called Kilconnell in East Galway, Ireland. He lived to be 102 years old! His music had a special, almost magical feeling. People often called this feeling "Draíocht", which is an Irish word for magic or enchantment.

Many famous traditional Irish musicians have recorded Paddy Fahey's music. These include Martin Hayes, the band Planxty, John Carty, and Kevin Burke. More recently, musicians like Liz and Yvonne Kane and Breda Keville have also featured his tunes.

The award ceremony included a very rare public performance by Paddy Fahey. He played alongside other great musicians. These included fellow fiddler Paddy Canny, harpist Máire Ní Chathasaigh, and the popular band Altan.
