This community is located along two main roads, Route 21 and Route 52. It lies east of Lancaster, which is the main town and government center for Garrard County. In 2015, a new part of Route 52 was built, so now traffic can go around Paint Lick instead of through it. The community is about 820 feet (250 meters) above sea level. It has its own post office with the ZIP code 40461. A historic building here is the Paint Lick Presbyterian Church, built in 1879.
