Palau-solità i Plegamans is a cool town and municipality (which is like a local government area) in Catalonia, Spain. It's part of the Vallès Occidental region in the province of Barcelona.
This town is about 15 kilometers from cities like Sabadell and Granollers. It's also around 25 kilometers north of the big city of Barcelona. Its name comes from two older towns, Palau-solità and Plegamans, which joined together. Did you know that the famous fashion company Mango has its main office here?
Radio Station
Palau-solità i Plegamans is home to a very powerful medium wave radio transmitter. This station belongs to Radio Nacional de España, which is a national radio company in Spain.
- It sends out radio programs on two different frequencies.
- One frequency is 576 kHz, broadcasting the RNE-5 program with 100,000 watts of power.
- The other frequency is 738 kHz, broadcasting the RNE-1 program with a huge 500,000 watts of power!
- To do this, the station uses a single, very tall antenna. This antenna is a 217-meter (about 712 feet) guyed mast radiator. It's held up by strong cables.
