Palmyra covers a total area of about 35.2 square miles (91.1 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 34.8 square miles, is land. A small part, about 0.4 square miles, is water.

In the year 2000, about 1,145 people called Palmyra home. This meant there were about 33 people living in each square mile.

A Look at Palmyra's Past
The town of Palmyra was officially created in 1846. Later, on May 5, 1874, the smaller village of Palmyra received its official charter.
Getting Around Palmyra
The Palmyra Municipal Airport was built in the town in 1948. Recently, the village of Palmyra decided to take over about 740 acres of land. This land included the airport, which covers over 91 acres.
Some people living in the town were not happy about this decision. They asked the town board to challenge the annexation in court. The town board then voted to take legal action against the village's decision.
