Pamella D'Pella (born Pamela Denise Manley; August 22, 1957) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, photographer, and dancer. Pamella is well-known for her many acting roles. She is especially remembered for playing "Julia" in the long-running TV show The Young and the Restless. She also played Teresa on The Bold and the Beautiful. Pamella has appeared in many other movies and TV shows. Some of these include Ted and Venus, Hot Boyz, and Diagnosis: Murder. She also helped start the Location Managers Guild of America.

Pamella D'Pella's Early Life

Pamella D'Pella was born in Chicago on August 22, 1957. Her mother, Mary Ann Manley, moved the family to Cincinnati, Ohio, after leaving the United States Air Force. Pamella loved acting and music from a very young age. When she was four, she started singing for her family and neighbors. She would also act out scenes from her favorite movies and TV shows.

As a teenager, Pamella continued to explore her many talents. She tried modeling, cheerleading, and sports. She won many awards for her efforts. At 16, she was crowned Cincinnati's first Miss NAACP. She was the youngest person to win this competition. She also won other titles like Miss Aerospace and Miss Hemisphere. Pamella was also Cincinnati's American Junior Miss, which is now called Distinguished Young Women. She was the first Black girl to win this award in her city.

Pamella was recognized by the International Thespian Society. They praised her excellent movement and character work in plays. She also won an award for her role as the "Wicked Witch of the West" in a stage play of The Wizard of Oz.

Pamella studied theater at Western Kentucky University. She performed in many college plays. After her first year, she moved to the University of Cincinnati. At the same time, she became a professional cheerleader. She was one of the first Black Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleaders for the National Football League's Cincinnati Bengals. She received great reviews for her role as the "Dark Queen" in Snow White.

To further her acting career, Pamella left Cincinnati. She went to New York City to study theater at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She also studied dance at the famous Dance Theater of Harlem. While living in New York, she became interested in religious art from different countries. Later, Pamella went to the University of Louisville in Kentucky for graduate studies. She studied directing and set design there.

Pamella D'Pella's Acting Career

Pamella moved to Los Angeles in 1981. Just two weeks after arriving, she started working on the TV show The Young and the Restless. She soon settled into her role as "Julia." This was a recurring character, meaning she appeared many times. She played Julia for ten years and was in over 40 episodes.

Early in her career in Los Angeles, Pamella also had guest roles in other TV shows. These included Hunter, O'Hara, and LA Law.

Pamella D'Pella has also been involved in entertainment issues. She was elected to the board of the Screen Actors Guild in 1982. She was also a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Actors' Equity Association. She served on a special committee for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Music and Singing

During the 1990s, Pamella wrote and recorded several songs. She worked with the well-known producer Darryl "Dok" Ross. Even though record labels were interested, Pamella decided not to sign a record contract. She chose to focus on her acting career instead.
