Pappagallo is a Finnish brand that makes delicious Italian ice cream and sorbet. A company called Green Taste Oy owns it. Pappagallo ice creams are mostly made by hand. They follow old Italian recipes to make their tasty treats. All the products are made in Vantaa, Finland.

Pappagallo ice cream is a special kind of milk ice cream called gelato. It has a smooth, rich texture. Their milk-free sorbet is also very popular. The name Pappagallo means "parrot" in Italian.

How Pappagallo Started

An Italian person named Giorgio Gallo first brought Pappagallo to Finland. He wanted to share the taste of real Italian ice cream. Later, the ice cream making moved to a company called Jäätelömestarit. In 2012, another company, Arho Nordic, bought Jäätelömestarit. Then, in March 2015, the company changed its name to Green Taste. Green Taste still makes Pappagallo ice cream today.

What Makes Pappagallo Special?

People really enjoy Pappagallo's ice cream and sorbet. In the summer of 2010, a newspaper called Helsingin Sanomat wrote about Pappagallo's products. A reporter tried their raspberry sorbet. They said it was "like eating raspberries" and even had the seeds! The chocolate ice cream was described as dark and strong. The liquorice ice cream tasted just like salty liquorice.

In 2011, a group called Animalia chose Pappagallo's mango sorbet as the best milk-free ice cream of the year. They said it was fresh and had a strong mango flavor. They also thought it was juicy and tasted like real mango. It was just the right amount of sweet!
