LXXP.Oxy.VII.1007
This is a piece of Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 1007.

Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 1007 is an ancient piece of writing from a very old Bible translation. It's often called LXXP.Oxy.VII.1007. This special papyrus was found in a place called Oxyrhynchus, which is now El-Bahnasa in Egypt. Experts believe it was written around the 3rd century CE, which is about 1,700 years ago! Today, you can find this important manuscript in the British Library in London.

What it Contains

This ancient papyrus holds parts of the Book of Genesis, which is the first book of the Bible. It has verses from Genesis 2:7-9 and 2:16-19 on one side (called the recto). On the other side (called the verso), it has verses from Genesis 2:23-3:1 and 3:6-8.

One very interesting thing about this manuscript is how the Name of God is written. Instead of the full name, it uses a special short form. It's like a special symbol made by doubling the letter 'yod' (a Hebrew letter). It looks a bit like a 'z' with a line through it, and it's written in a unique way that connects both parts.

Its Journey Through Time

This papyrus was first shared with the world in a book called "The Oxyrhynchus Papyri, part VII." This book was put together by Arthur S. Hunt in London in 1910.

Later, it was given a special number, 907, in a list of Septuagint manuscripts created by Alfred Rahlfs. The Septuagint is the oldest Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible. It also has another identification number, 3113, in a big online list called the Leuven Database of Ancient Books. This helps scholars and researchers find and study it easily.
