Patmos, Ohio facts for kids
Patmos is a small, unincorporated community located in Mahoning County, in the state of Ohio in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Patmos
Patmos began to grow in 1850. That's when a person named John Templin opened a store there. This store helped the community start to form.
The name "Patmos" comes from a Christian hymn. A hymn is a type of religious song.
A post office was also opened in Patmos in 1851. This was an important service for the people living there. It allowed them to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1901.
