Patricia Moran (born September 25, 1944 – died July 17, 2017) was a talented Australian artist. She was known for her realistic paintings, especially beautiful flowers. Patricia also loved to teach art. She wrote books, magazine articles, and even made videos to share her painting tips. She won many awards for her amazing artwork throughout her life.

Life and Art Journey

Patricia Moran was born in Melbourne, Australia. Before becoming a full-time artist, she worked as a secretary. In 1977, she decided to follow her passion for art. She began studying painting full-time. Just one year later, in 1978, she held her very first art show in Melbourne.

Winning Awards and Studying Abroad

Patricia was very successful in her art career. In 1982, she won a special award called the Alice Bale Overseas Study Award. This prize allowed her to travel and paint in England and other parts of Europe. She also won many other art prizes, including two Gold medals from the Camberwell Rotary Art Prizes.

Sharing Her Skills: Teaching and Writing

Patricia loved to help new artists learn. In the 1980s, she taught portrait painting at the Victorian Artists Society. She also wrote helpful articles for art magazines like "The Australian Artist."

Her passion for teaching led her to write books. In 1991, she published "Painting The Beauty Of Flowers With Oils." This book became very popular. It was even used as a textbook in art colleges around the world. Later, in 2000, she wrote another book called "The Oil Painter's Ultimate Flower & Portrait Companion."

Artworks and Legacy

Patricia's early paintings included landscapes, portraits, and still life. However, she became especially famous for her oil paintings of flowers. Her beautiful artworks were shown in Australia and London. Many people bought her paintings for their private collections. Some of her selected paintings were even made into prints and sold internationally. Her art was also featured in home decor magazines, like Vogue Living.

Before she passed away, Patricia created a series of teaching DVDs. These videos, called "Learn Classic Oil Painting with Patricia Moran," still help aspiring artists today. Patricia Moran passed away on July 17, 2017, after a short illness.
