Patrick Graham (born 1837, died 1875) was a brave soldier from Dublin, Ireland. He received the Victoria Cross, which is the highest award for courage given to soldiers in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries. It's given for amazing bravery when facing an enemy.

A Moment of Great Bravery

Patrick Graham was about 20 years old when he showed incredible bravery. He was a private, which is a regular soldier, in the 90th Regiment of Foot. This was during a big conflict called the Indian Mutiny in 1857.

On November 17, 1857, in a place called Lucknow, something special happened. There was a lot of intense gunfire, but Patrick Graham bravely went out to rescue a wounded friend. He brought his comrade to safety even though it was very dangerous.

His fellow soldiers in the regiment chose him for this special award. This shows how much they respected his courage.

Later Life

Patrick Graham passed away in Dublin on June 3, 1875. His Victoria Cross medal is now on display. You can see it at the Cameronians Regimental Museum in Hamilton, Scotland.
